A burnt Osprey nest in Germany

near Roebel, eastern Germany

April, 2001

During a stay with Dieter and Anne Roepke after the "Fischadler Tagung in April 2001 an Osprey nest has burnt down.

Possibly due to a short cut because a branch had hit the power cable. It happened late in the evening. None of the Osprey was wounded, the huge flash seen by people living not far away

Dieter adds an important item to the nest:

a grass sod

Finishing the nest

A couple of hours later the Ospreys had taken over the nest again and began bringing new nest material

With many thanks to Dieter Roepke and
